Introduction

This blog will be all about figure skating. During competition season, I will cover all ISU Championship competitions. I will also cover all Grand Prix and Junior Grand Prix competitions that time allows. I will also cover the US Nationals. During the off season, I will post about all related news, as well as moments from the past season and what to look forward to for the next.

2015 Grand Prix Assignments: Trophee Eric Bompard

This is the fourth of six articles detailing the Grand Prix assignments for the coming up season. As with the previous articles, I will go through all the assignments. I will detail any new countries, any returns or debuts as well as any interesting thoughts. These are bound to change in the coming up months, but these are the initial assignments.

Next up is the Trophee Eric Bompard.

Men

Patrick Chan CAN
Wang Yi CHN
Florent Amodio FRA
Romain Ponsart FRA
TBA FRA
  • In my opinion, there is really only one option for this one: Chafik Besseghier. He has another assignment – the NHK Trophy – so that would give him two events.
Daisuke Murakami JPN
Shoma Uno JPN
Denis Ten KAZ
Maxim Kovtun RUS
Alexander Petrov RUS
Max Aaron USA
Misha Ge UZB

Ladies

Gabrielle Daleman CAN
Kiira Korpi FIN
  • First Grand Prix competition since the 2012 Grand Prix Final.

Laurine Lecavalier FRA
Mae Berenice Meite FRA
TBA France
  • Again, France has very little options in the way of ladies figure skaters. I think that Anais Ventard is their only option, though Lea Serna is the reigning bronze medalist, so they may choose to give it to her.

Haruka Imai JPN
Kanako Murakami JPN
Angelina Kuchvalaska LAT
  • Grand Prix Debut

Julia Lipnitskaia RUS
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva RUS
Gracie Gold USA
Ashley Wang  USA

Pairs

Julianne Seguin / Charlie Bilodeau CAN
Peng Cheng / Zhang Hao CHN
Vanessa James / Morgan Cipres FRA
TBA FRA
TBA FRA
  • Honestly, I think both of these will be given. I am fairly certain France has no other senior-level pairs teams. James / Cipres were the only team to both Europeans and Worlds.

Nicole Della Monica / Matteo Guarise ITA
Evgenia Tarasova / Vladimir Morozov  RUS
Tatiana Tarasova / Maxim Trankov RUS
Marissa Castelli / Mervin Tran USA

Ice Dance

Piper Gilles / Paul Poirier CAN
Gabriella Papadakis / Guillaume Cizeron FRA
TBA FRA
TBA FRA
  • Much like the Pairs, I am pretty sure that both of these will be given up as well. I don’t think they have any other senior-level dance teams either. They also were the only team to both Europeans and Worlds.

Penny Coomes / Nicholas Buckland GBR
Alexandra Stepanova / Ivan Bukin RUS
Anna Yanovskaya / Sergei Mozgov RUS
Madison Hubbell / Zachary Donahue USA

That’s it for now! Next up is the Rostelecom Cup.
