I will also cover all Grand Prix and Junior Grand Prix competitions that time allows. I will also cover the US Nationals. During the off season, I will post about all related news, as well as moments from the past season and what to look forward to for the next.

2015 - 16 Junior Grand Prix Final Entries - Men and Ladies

Sorry for my absence. Sickness plus a vacation has stopped my writing. I am back and ready to get to writing again.

This is the list of entries to the JGP Final. After having only one entry last year, the US has four this year (two in men and two in Ice Dance). Russia dominates with eleven entries, at least one in each discipline (one in men, three in ladies, four in pairs and three in ice dance).



Men (2 USA, 1 RUS, 1 JPN, 1 CAN, 1 ISR)

  • Nathan Chen - USA
    • Chen dominated both of his competitions, winning the events in the USA and Spain.
    • He also has the highest combined score.
    • He previously qualified for the JPG Final two years ago, where he was third.
  • Dmitri Aliev - RUS
    • He won the events in Latvia and Austria to qualify 
  • Sota Yamamoto - JPN
    • This is Yamamoto's second straight final. He was second last year.
    • He placed third in USA and first in Poland to qualify.
  • Roman Sadovsky - CAN
    • This is also Sadovsky's second straight final. He was fifth last year.
    • He won the event in Slovakia and was third in Poland to qualify.
  • Daniel Samohin - ISR
    • He is the first skater from Israel to qualify.
    • He was second in USA and Poland to qualify.
    • He is the oldest competitor in the men's event 17.
  • Vincent Zhou - USA
    • He was second in Slovakia and Austria to qualify.
    • He is the youngest competitor at 14.
The alternates are Deniss Vasiljevs of Lativa, Alexander Samarin of Russia, and Nicolas Nadeau of Canada.

Ladies (3 RUS, 3  JPN)
  • Polina Tsurkaya - RUS
    • She won the events in Slovakia and Poland to qualify.
    • She has the highest combined score.
  • Maria Sotskova - RUS
    • This is her third straight final. She won the event two years ago and was fourth last year.
    • She won the events in Latvia and Austria to qualify.
    • She is the only competitor in the ladies event to have been to a final before.
  • Yuna Shiraiwa - JPN
    • She won the events in USA and Spain to qualify.
  • Marin Honda - JPN
    • She was second in Austria and won in Croatia to qualify.
  • Mai Mihara - JPN
    • She was second in Slovakia and Poland to qualify.
    • She is the oldest competitor at 16.
  • Alisa Fedichinka - RUS
    • She was fourth in Latvia and second in Spain to qualify.
    • She is the youngest competitor at 13.
The alternates are Kaori Sakamoto of Japan, Choi Da-bin of South Korea and Vivian Le of the United States.
