Russian and Japanese Nationals Overview

The Russian and Japanese Nationals have concluded.

The Russian Nationals finished first!



In the Men's event, reigning champ Maxim Kovtun won his third straight national title. Mikhail Kolyada won his first national medal, the silver, followed by Alexander Petrov, who took the bronze. In the Ladies event, Evgenia Medvedeva continued her stellar season by winning her first national title. Reigning champ Elena Radionova had to settle for the silver medal, while Anna Pogorilaya won the bronze.

In the Pairs event, with the absence of reigning Grand Prix Final Champs Stolbova and Klimov, reigning Olympic Champs Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov won their third national title. Yuko Kavaguti and Alexander Smirnov of Russia took the silver, while Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov took the bronze.

In the Ice Dance event, Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitri Soloviev won their fifth national title. Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov won the silver medal, and Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin won the bronze.

In Japanese Nationals, in the Men's event, reigning Olympic Champ Yuzuru Hanyu won his fourth straight title. Shoma Uno won his second straight silver medal, and Takahito Mura took the bronze. In the Ladies event, reigning champ Satoko Miyahara won her second straight national title. Reigning bronze medalist, Wakaba Higuchi, took the silver, and three-time world Mao Asada had to settle for the bronze.

In the Pairs event, Sumire Suto and Francis Bordeau-Audet won their first national title. Marin Ono and Wesley Killing took the silver, while Miu Suzuki and Ryuichi Kihara took the bronze. In the Ice Dance event, Kana Muramoto and Chris Reed won their first national title (Reed has seven national titles with former partner and sister, Cathy Reed). Emi Hirai and Marien de la Asuncion won the silver medal. Ibuku Mori and Kentaro Suzuki won the bronze.
